The French Village Style - Art Exhibit
by Photographer Greg Matchick
"The French Village Style" Art Exhibit captures the essence of the French village through a collection of fine art photographs by St. Louis photographer Greg Matchick. The works on display are from villages of the Perigord region in the south of France - Beynac, Domme and Castelnaud in the Dordogne River valley and St. Cirq Lapopie in the Lot River valley; also the wine village of Beaune in the Burgundy region is featured as well. These small villages, with their old stone buildings and streets are quintessential France. There are new pieces that have not been displayed publically before, two of which are French kitchens that appear straight from the setting for an old master painting reminiscent of the setting for a Vermeer scene. Greg's photographs are hand-varnished fine art prints, a technique which gives them a painterly quality, commonly remarked upon. One must see them to appreciate this unique presentation of photography. This exhibit will be on display from May 30, 2012 through June 30, 2012 and there will be a reception on Friday June 8, 2012.
